As a Nebraska native, Worlds of Fun in Kansas City has been my family’s go-to theme park for decades—from my childhood visits in the 1980s to now taking my own kids. While it may not have the scale of Disney or Universal, WoF offers plenty of thrills for a quick getaway. After countless visits, here’s how I rank the park’s best rides.
(Note: This list excludes spinning rides and Snoopy-themed attractions—either because they’re not my thing or because my kids aged out of Planet Snoopy before I could try them.)
Rides I’m Skipping (And Why)
- Cyclone Sams: Love it or hate it? I’ll never know—this wild mouse coaster looks like a hard pass for me.
- Mustang Runner: A family favorite, but not my cup of tea.
- Scrambler/Nordic Chaser/Fjord Fjarlane: Classic spin-and-vomit fairground rides—no thanks.
- Bamboozler: 🤢 Enough said.
- Spinning Dragons: My daughters report it’s cramped, rough, and nauseating. Hard pass.
- The Grand Carrousel: A charming antique, but not exactly thrilling.
- Flying Dutchman: Our girls enjoy it, but it looks tight for my frame—and why risk motion sickness?
- RipCord: Still on my bucket list!
- Zulu: My oldest loves it, but even watching it makes me queasy.
- Planet Snoopy Rides: Perfect for little ones, but my kids have outgrown them.
The Coaster That Lost Its Charm
Boomerang (Vekoma):
Once a favorite of mine, this coaster now feels like a headache in motion. Dutch manufacturer Vekoma has cloned this jolting layout over 50 times worldwide, and WoF’s version brings nothing new to the table—except maybe its eye-searing paint job.
